HP Broadens Its PageWide, Scanner, and Laser Portfolio

From Entry-Level to Enterprise Devices, HP Covers It All

Sep 19, 2017 12:22:28 PM

On September 11 in Chicago at its World Partner Forum 2017, HP Inc. introduced the latest additions to its hardware portfolio, consisting of personal LaserJet models to desktop scanners and a series of transactional PageWide Enterprise printers and MFPs.

PageWide Enterprise Printers and MFPs: Speed, Service, Lower Costs

Offering speeds from 45 to 55 ppm in color and black in the default Professional mode (and up to 75 ppm in General Office mode), the A3-capable HP PageWide Enterprise Color 765dn printer and three MFP models (PageWide Enterprise Color MFP 780dn, PageWide Enterprise Color MFP 780dns, and PageWide Enterprise Color Flow MFP 785f) are designed around simplified serviceability, fast speeds and low costs. And all models in the family include a clean layout on the modern, tablet-like interface and FutureSmart 4.0 for ease of management and upgrades across the fleet of Enterprise devices.

Enterprise-Class Scanning for Advanced Workflow

HP also announced two new workflow scanners, the HP Scanjet n9120fn2 and HP Digital Sender 8500fn2. Leveraging the same FutureSmart firmware used by HP’s line of enterprise printers and MFPs, the new scanners support an array of workflow software, include integrated keyboards for simplified data entry, and employ HP EveryPage technology for reliable scanning. The units ship with HP Scan and Kofax VRS and use the same intuitive control panel design found on HP printers and MFPs, helping to reduce the learning curve when users switch between devices.

The Digital Sender 8500fn2 is priced at $2,999, with speeds up to 100 ppm (simplex) and 200 ipm (duplex) and a daily duty cycle of 10,000 scans, while the A3-capable HP Scanjet n9120fn2, priced at $3,999, offers speeds up to 120 ppm (simplex) and 240 ipm (duplex) and a daily duty cycle of 12,000 scans.

Offering speeds of 17 ppm in color and black, the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180nw is a three-in-one designed for small workgroups that need color printing as well as convenience copy and scan (the unit lacks a document feeder, so it’s better suited for low-volume copy and scan volumes). A mobile-ready device, the M180nw includes a standard wireless interface and WiFi Direct.

Touted by HP as having the fastest in-class two-sided printing speed and first-page-out-time (FPOT), the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw and HP Color LaserJet Pro M254dw offer rated speeds of 22 ppm in black and color. Both models include a touchscreen interface, wireless networking (with WiFi Direct) and support mobile printing and scanning via the HP Smart App (formerly the HP All-in-One Printer Remote App). BLI performed hands-on comparative testing and found them to be a great option for small and mid-size businesses that want fast speeds, vibrant color, and a low supplies cost per page (click for the full report and video highlights of our findings).
