LegalTech Showcases Solutions Ideal for Your Law-office Clients

Feb 6, 2014 11:22:28 AM

LegalTech, a prominent technology and networking event for the legal industry, was held in New York City at the Hilton New York from February 4 to February 6. The event, which features more than 100 technology exhibitors and dozens of seminars, offers legal professionals (and the IT staffs) insight on solutions to help improve outdated processes, automate tasks, reduce inefficiencies and organize information.

BLI stopped by the exhibition hall on Tuesday and among the wide variety of vendors, many were showcasing document management systems and eDiscovery solutions. Of the hardware manufacturers, HP, Canon and Konica Minolta made an appearance, as well as Xerox Litigation Services and Ricoh’s Legal Services division.

HP  gave us a demonstration of HP WorkSite, part of HP Autonomy’s legal content management offering; one perk of which is the ability for users to set up folders for different cases, for example, and automatically index documents according to the case folder they’re saved to. Konica Minolta’s EnvisionIT Legal team showed legal professionals offerings tailored specifically for their industry.

Canon’s booth highlighted its partnership with Worldox, one of the leading document management systems in the legal industry. Canon now offers control panel integration with Worldox via a MEAP application; the interface is similar to the Worldox user experience, allowing users their preference of familiar storage methods. Additionally, Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE Desktop now offers Worldox integration, including through the Quick Printing Tool for dragging and dropping files right into the system.

Among the many software vendors, we saw some familiar faces including Nuance Communications, which was displaying its Equitrac, Copitrak, PDF Converter, eCopy ShareScan and Dragon products; Omtool, Ltd.; ABBYY; and NetDocuments—all of which are featured on Solutions Center.
