BLI Explores Opportunities in Wide Format and Direct-to-Garment Printing

Unlike many tradeshows, which often feel like a show of muscle where vendors think “we have to be here from a branding perspective,” the SGIA Expo had a real sales buzz about it, with most of the hardware boasting dollar prices, show specials and attractive leasing offers to hook prospective buyers.

Looking to Expand Coverage, BLI Establishes New Wide Format Relationships Held annually, the SGIA (Specialty Graphic Imaging Association) Expo showcases the latest in wide format printers of all kinds, as well as the newest finishing options, color management solutions, ink vendors, RIP software manufacturers, media companies, and much more.

BLI editors had a chance to check out the latest offerings from a number of manufacturers in the wide-format arena represented across many of the halls at drupa 2012, the quadrennial print trade show that took place in early May in Düsseldorf, Germany.  Enthusiastic product managers and sales reps eagerly discussed new ink colors, improvements in printhead design and the productivity enhancements of a great many newly-unveiled devices, as well as a few prototypes. BLI’s coverage primarily includes models in the 36- to 64-inch width range employing aqueous, latex or solvent inks, as well as two toner-based wide-format solutions.
