Brother Web Connect Enhances Scan to Cloud Feature

In the winter of 2014, BLI honored Brother Web Connect with an “Outstanding Achievement in Innovation” award for the feature’s groundbreaking ability to scan to numerous cloud services directly from supported A4 MFPs. The solution helps users do more with less, enabling scan-to-cloud capabilities to services including Microsoft OneDrive, Box, Google Drive, Evernote, Dropbox, Facebook, Picasa, and Flickr directly from the MFP—no server or PC software required. While we applauded Web Connect for having the widest array of cloud-service support BLI had seen to date, there was one shortcoming: The feature could deliver only static PDF and image files to those services.

Recently, Brother upped the ante by extending the capabilities of this game-changing feature. Users still have the same scan-to-cloud capability directly from the control panel. Only now, documents can be converted via OCR processing in the cloud and stored as searchable PDFs. This lets customers create much more user-friendly documents without requiring extra steps (such as OCR conversion at the desktop) or expensive server-based middleware.
