Vendor Financials: A Look at 19 Industry Players

Keypoint Intelligence is set to publish its annual Vendor Financials document this month, which appraises the financial health of major manufacturers in the global office and production equipment industry. It covers the performance of 19 industry players in the 2022 fiscal year (to the end of March 2023 in most cases, but it can vary somewhat by OEM), detailing financial performance and related analysis for the major players in the office and production markets.

In most cases, we show the vendors’ imaging and printing revenue over a five-year span with some context behind some of the key changes. We also review operating profits within imaging and printing divisions to provide another measure of financial health. In the cases where vendors do not report their imaging and printing performance publicly, we substitute revenue and profit information with data from our single function printer and MFP placements as well as market share estimates.

Here are a few high-level findings from our latest financial review:

• A challenging operating environment notwithstanding (e.g., the aftermath of COVID, supply chain issues, parts shortages, inflationary pressures, and geo-political issues), vendors are seeing signs of optimism and recovery in the print-related sphere. Most are reporting revenue and sales growth.
• Operating profit differed broadly across the 19 players, with production-orientated vendors seeing an uplift that is contrasted with office vendors seeing a more mixed picture.
• A3 office MFPs are seizing the momentum with A4 and inkjet stagnating as remote working levels out.
