Keypoint Intelligence - Buyers Lab (BLI), the world’s leading independent evaluator of document imaging software, hardware, and services, today announced the winners of its BLI PaceSetter awards in the K–12 Education arena. These awards recognize the document imaging OEMs that offer the most impressive portfolios of hardware devices, software solutions, and technical and professional services for Education customers in the K–12 market segment.

The winners for 2019–2020, based on research conducted for the North American market, are:

HP Inc.

BLI PaceSetter 2019–2020 for Education: K–12

Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc.

BLI PaceSetter 2019–2020 for Education: K–12

“Times have never been more challenging for educators in the K–12 segment,” said Jamie Bsales, Director of Solutions Analysis at Keypoint Intelligence. “In addition to the perennial pressures of budgetary constraints and evolving curriculums, teachers and administrators are tasked with incorporating more technology into the classroom while also delivering provably improved outcomes. Our PaceSetter award winners have demonstrated the ability to support and advance these initiatives for their K–12 customers.”

For this study, Keypoint Intelligence invited all leading document imaging OEMs to complete an exhaustive questionnaire detailing their education-relevant offerings in key areas including hardware and software portfolios, service and support offerings, professional services capabilities, security offerings in the space, and demonstrated market leadership. OEMs that opted to participate were also asked to make key personnel available for in-depth interviews with the Keypoint Intelligence analyst team to give a more complete picture of their strategies for the education market. After gathering all the data, the analysts used a proprietary rating scale to calculate point totals in the areas evaluated.

“HP’s long history serving K–12 school systems is evident in its product mix,” noted Bsales. “In addition to its award-winning printer and MFP portfolio perfectly suited to the needs of the education vertical, the company offers laptops and Chromebooks specifically designed for students as well as an education software suite covering needs such as classroom management and student collaboration.” Also factoring favorably into the study’s results: the company’s “OneLife” concept, which recognizes and supports the continued blending of the working, learning, and leisure spheres. The OneLife philosophy extends to schools, where, for example, HP augmented and virtual reality technology will transform learning experiences for students and the delivery of basic skills and information can be automated, freeing teachers to offer more individualized attention to students.

In the analysis, Konica Minolta stood out for the wide range of education-specific IT capabilities delivered through its All Covered services division, including IT infrastructure assessments and deployments; the unique Workplace Hub for Education network appliance; future-focused solutions like the Double2 Robot for telepresence, which allows students and teachers to remotely attend classes; and curriculum consulting and resources paired with 3D print, virtual reality, and interactive whiteboard technology. “In addition to all these strengths, Konica Minolta further impressed us with its SchoolWatch security offerings that address the all-important and multifaceted physical security needs of K–12 schools today,” said Bsales. “By combining Mobotix intelligent security cameras, visitor-management kiosks, classroom door barriers, and the ability to have them all work in concert, Konica Minolta can bring some peace of mind to educators, students and their families.”
