Epson Launches New Wireless Network Devices

Written by Mark Davis | Sep 18, 2024 12:00:00 AM

Epson America has introduced the WorkForce DS-800WN and DS-900WN EdgeLink wireless network color document scanners to the marketplace. Both devices feature the capability to support direct access to management solutions and are designed to meet the needs of industries such as healthcare, finance, government, as well as enterprise-sized organizations. Epson has stated that both devices are ideal for pulling digitized scan data into document management solutions for future use.

The offering is impressive with a simple interface and 4.3" color touchscreen for ease, TWAIN and ISIS drivers for greater flexibility, advanced media-handling technology including a paper alignment plate on the DS-900WN, powerful image enhancement options via Document Capture Pro, a one-year warranty with One Day Business Advanced Exchange, centralized fleet management, as well as high daily duty cycles for both devices.

Epson is also using this launch to promote its new EdgeLink technology, which enables third party software companies to integrate their applications with the two devices. “Epson’s new EdgeLink technology enables third party software companies to integrate their applications with the DS-800WN and DS-900WN, providing end users the ability to interface with those applications with the push of a button on the scanner’s large touchscreen,” said Haol Yao, Product Manager at Epson America, Inc.

The launch of EdgeLink (pictured above), along with these new devices, paves the way for Epson to shift towards greater third-party integration. Users no longer need to move to new solutions when they start using new hardware because of integration problems, but they can use the device to its optimum potential with minimal impact to their workflows. Both devices support ScanWay PC-free scanning, which allows users to scan to a USB flash drive, email, network folders, and popular cloud services without the need to install any software.

Keypoint Intelligence Opinion

Keypoint is very impressed by Epson’s latest offering and we’re keen to see how both devices will be received in the marketplace and how they’ll fare in testing. Their versatility with wireless and USB connectivity will appeal to a variety of verticals looking for adaptable hardware, and the compatibility with Document Capture Pro means that users can manage digital workflows with ease.

However, what is most impressive is Epson’s broadening of its third-party application integration with EdgeLink and PC-less scanning with ScanWay. This will no doubt appeal to businesses in need of solutions that offer flexibility and value in preventing them from investing time and money in changing their existing solutions.
