Canon Unveils corrPRESS iB17 Digital Press for Industrial-Scale Corrugated Packaging
At the FEFCO Technical Seminar 2025 in Rome, Canon marked a major step in its expansion into digital packaging with the corrPRESS iB17. The new inkjet press delivers offset-quality printing at speeds up to 8,000 m² per hour, using water-based inks and primer suitable for indirect food contact. Designed for short- to medium-run jobs, the system minimizes operator intervention and waste while eliminating the need for plates, chemicals, and lamination. With Canon’s proprietary printheads, inks, and drying technology, the corrPRESS iB17 offers converters high-speed, sustainable production that covers nearly 80% of retail packaging applications.
Introducing the AI-Powered RICOH Intelligent Automation Platform
Ricoh launched RICOH Intelligent Automation, a new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver end-to-end business process automation. Initially rolling out as a pilot in select markets, the platform automates key functions such as document processing, data extraction, and system integration across digital and paper workflows. Built around intelligent document processing (IDP), seamless integration, and no-code workflow creation, it enables users to design scalable automation solutions with minimal technical expertise. The launch marks a major step in Ricoh’s global expansion within the Process Automation domain and reinforces its evolution into a digital services provider.
DocuWare Launches Global AI Hub to Drive IDP
DocuWare has opened the DocuWare AI Hub, a global R&D center in Saarbrücken, Germany, dedicated to advancing AI-powered solutions for document management and automation. The hub will focus on developing proprietary technologies for IDP, enterprise content management, and agentic automation, all in alignment with the EU AI Act 2025. By integrating expertise from its acquisition of natif.ai, DocuWare aims to build specialized AI models, enhance OCR capabilities, and introduce generative AI features across its product portfolio.
