Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc., has announced a significant development in its digital transformation (DX) service offerings. The company has launched a new division, Blue Iris IQ, built upon the foundation of its existing Intelligent Information Management (IIM) services. This move signals an evolution in how Konica Minolta addresses the growing complexities of data management and business operations for its clients.

Blue Iris IQ is presented as a customer-centric initiative, emphasizing a logic-driven approach to providing tailored solutions. The core aim is to help organizations streamline intricate data environments and implement automated operational workflows. A key aspect of Blue Iris IQ’s approach involves leveraging artificial intelligence (AI)-powered offerings. These technologies are designed to extract deeper insights and predictive value from enterprise content, enabling businesses to gain a more comprehensive understanding of their information assets. Furthermore, the solutions provided by Blue Iris IQ are scalable, intended to adapt and grow with an organization's ongoing digital transformation.

According to Konica Minolta, the establishment of Blue Iris IQ represents more than a simple rebranding. Sam Errigo, President and CEO of Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., highlights that it signifies the company’s commitment to its expertise, advanced technology, and focus on delivering tangible results. The division comprises over 200 professionals specializing in content management, intelligent automation, and process optimization. This dedicated team is focused on assisting customers in streamlining workflows, enhancing productivity, and maximizing the value of their information.

In the Konica Minolta briefing to industry analysts earlier in the month—about the company’s dealer strategy for 2025—Errigo had alluded to “packaged IIM offerings” that would be coming soon. He also identified IIM as one of the pillars in the plan to improve revenue growth for the company and its dealers. “Especially in IIM—which is high margin and has a high customer retention rate—dealers need to leverage our resources,” Errigo said.

Clearly, Blue Iris IQ is the driver for that.

Meg Fleming, Vice President & General Manager of Blue Iris IQ

“Our goal is to equip organizations with the clarity, confidence, and competitive edge they need to move forward in today’s digital landscape,” said Meg Fleming, Vice President & General Manager of Blue Iris IQ. “Traditional solutions are no longer enough—businesses need smarter, more agile tools to stay ahead. That’s why we’re expanding the reach and accessibility of our modern offerings, fueling our growth strategy across the US market and driving innovation at every level of the customer experience.”

Key Blue Iris IQ Service Areas

The division’s offerings can be roughly divided into three areas:

  • Intelligent Content Solutions: This service area is centered on simplifying the processes by which organizations capture, store, and manage data—regardless of whether it is structured or unstructured. The fundamental objective is to improve information accessibility, management efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This includes the provision of document scanning and data capture services, utilizing technologies like intelligent document processing (IDP) to convert physical documents such as paper, microfilm, and blueprints into digital formats. Additionally, Blue Iris IQ offers solutions for digital mailrooms, electronic personnel files, and enhanced information sharing capabilities.
  • Intelligent Automation Solutions: This component focuses on the automation of manual tasks and workflows to drive efficiency gains, reduce operational costs, and improve return on investment (ROI). The solutions in this area incorporate Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and AI technologies to address inefficiencies within complex operational processes. Blue Iris IQ also provides professional services to guide organizations through the implementation of automation strategies.
  • Outsourced Scanning Services: This service enables organizations to digitize physical documents, a process that is particularly beneficial for handling large volumes and diverse document types.

Beyond these three core pillars, Blue Iris IQ also delivers a range of related IIM services:

  • Enterprise Content Management (ECM): These solutions are designed to manage the complete lifecycle of digital content, foster improved collaboration among teams, and ensure adherence to compliance requirements. A key emphasis is placed on integrating ECM systems with platforms like Microsoft 365 to facilitate more effective digital collaboration.
  • Workflow Automation: Blue Iris IQ offers services to design and implement automated workflows with the goal of streamlining business processes, minimizing manual data entry, and increasing overall productivity.
  • Case Management Solutions: The division provides tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of various industries (with a particular focus on the public sector) to optimize administrative processes and enhance interactions.
  • Digital Preservation: In response to the growing need for long-term data management, Blue Iris IQ offers solutions for preserving digital records over extended periods, ensuring accessibility and compliance (especially in highly regulated sectors).

Keypoint Intelligence Opinion

With a strong set of services and key partnerships already in place, Blue Iris IQ is poised to be a major player in the IIM space…if it can use past IIM successes to prove its ability to execute to a larger audience of potential customers. Clearly, document imaging vendors (OEMs and dealers) need to diversify beyond hardware to thrive in an ever-more challenging print environment. Blue Iris IQ gives Konica Minolta a strong foundation on which to build.
