Keypoint Intelligence’s German Sacristan spoke with Jan Marstorp, CEO of Plockmatic International, about how his company was able to achieve success in the process of finishing and bindery for the digital print market.
A global company, Plockmatic’s backbone is book makers and stitchers for bookmaking, but they have begun to enter the packaging and labeling space. According to Marstorp, “[Packaging] is a very interesting area. There is a prediction for it to increase in size…we are doing very good.” He also mentioned that they have seen growth over many years, including the acquisition of Argos Solutions as well as investment in various types of benchmark, supply chain technologies.
When asked how Plockmatic differentiates itself from its competitors in the market, Marstorp replied: “We work very tightly with the digital print market, so we are assisting in cooperation with the major print lines…they are trying to move more applications to digital print from the traditional.” This allows them to meet or exceed their clients’ expectations and enhance their relationships.
However, it doesn’t shield them completely from the challenges that Plockmatic is facing—including geopolitical instability, the need to meet investments that are shifting from more traditional toner devices to newer inkjet, as well as the consolidation in the industry to smaller companies for greater support and bigger devices to cope with larger run lengths.
