Epson has announced the launch of two new devices, the DS-530X and DS-785W, to provide high-speed, versatile scanning. Replacing the popular DS-530 series, these devices have been designed to offer fast scan speeds, high input capacity via the ADF, and seamless integration with existing document management systems. Epson has specifically targeted healthcare, finance, government, and enterprise as sectors that would benefit from what these devices can offer.

“Businesses today are constantly challenged with increasing productivity without increasing budgets,” said Haol Yao, Product Manager for Epson America. “The DS-530X and DS-785W are designed to help organizations meet this goal and take efficiency to the next level, with almost 30% faster scan speeds and double the ADF capacity of their predecessors that deliver unmatched performance-to-price. In addition, with our three-year limited warranty for all commercial desktop document scanners, our customers can feel confident knowing that Epson is committed to keeping their businesses running.”
Built on the success of the DS-530 II, the DS-530X brings a full feature set to the table with a 100-page ADF capacity, speeds of 45 PPM/90 IPM, and a maximum document length of 240". Another neat feature of the DS-530X is its modular design, with the ability to add a flatbed accessory for more specialized scanning and thereby increasing its versatility in the workplace. Epson has positioned the DS-785W as the sibling model to the DS-530X, but with greater connectivity (USB/Wi-Fi) and with an color LCD touchscreen that enables greater customization for more users.

Where That Leaves the Conversation
The DS-530 II is a tough act to follow. This exceptional device won hearts and minds because of its excellence in the workplace setting. Epson is no doubt hoping that, by transplanting the successes of the DS-530 II to the DS-530X and DS-785W (and then enhancing them), they will have winning solutions. This hunch seems likely to prove right, particularly if the sectors they have specifically targeted can see the benefit of the updated solutions for their existing document workflows. We look forward to getting both devices in the lab and reporting back.
