On Wednesday, September 25, BLI editors joined Canon Solutions America for an open house event at MetLife Stadium, where Canon gave a first look demonstration on the company’s new document management software offering, Therefore.
While Therefore is new to Canon Solutions America, it’s been sold by Canon Europe since 2009. The product itself was developed in 2003 by Australia-based document management provider, Therefore Corporation, and is now partially owned by Canon.
Therefore includes capture and routing, advanced search, annotating and editing, document security, and workflow components. Further, it integrates with a variety of third-party software, including Microsoft SharePoint, SAP NetWeaver, Microsoft Office, and email systems such as Outlook and Lotus Notes, as well as scan solutions such as Kofax Capture, eCopy ShareScan and eCopy PDF Pro Office. Additionally, a Therefore connector provides scan integration through Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFPs or DR Scanners. The solution is available in several editions: Personal (for individual users) and Workgroup (for small companies or departments), which are less fully featured and don’t include workflow, as well as Essentials (for small to medium organizations and supports up to five workflows) and Enterprise (for medium and large organizations that require unlimited workflows), which support workflows and other added features.
Other solutions demonstrated at the event were Canon Direct Print and Scan, Uniflow 5.2 and Nuance eCopy PDF Pro. The company also focused on its production devices and managed print services.
