Dscoop Edge Rockies 2022: Back After 1,075 Days and Didn’t Miss a Beat

HP’s show proves its worth during an uncertain time

Mar 16, 2022 12:22:28 PM

Dscoop Americas (Edge Rockies), HP’s acclaimed user group, just finished a successful three-day event in Denver, CO, with over 800 attendees (30% of which were first timers). The attendance number included owners and employees of more than 350 different companies from 22 countries. About 200 different print service providers were also represented at the event.

The event began with a keynote from Haim Levit, Senior Vice President and General Manager of HP Indigo, who discussed the company’s continued growth, the strength of their business, the resilience of their customers, and the power of the Dscoop community. During the event, HP also made a few key announcements to further support the success in the industry:

  • 100th installation HP Indigo 100K Digital Press
  • Worldwide availability of the HP Indigo 15K Digital Press
  • HP Indigo and Hershey Company bring Women’s Stories to Life, One Chocolate Bar at a Time (Coinciding with International Women’s Day)

As always with Dscoop events, the keynote, educational sessions, and collaboration among the attendees was superb. Through many conversations with attendees, the people commented on the value that Dscoop brings to not only their business activities but the industry as a whole. “Dscoop for myself and many others is a reunion of sorts,” said attendee Matt Rees of Moo.com. “It was wonderful to see my friends, colleagues, and peers in person. The opportunity to talk shop, share challenges, and best practices face to face is invaluable.”

The event featured over 60 partners through the Solutions Showcase and the educational sessions, which allowed attendees to meet and hear from software and solutions, media/substrates, as well as finishing and embellishment companies. HP had the largest booth, and while there wasn’t any equipment on the show floor, the company did a great job with virtual demonstrations and customer panels. Overall, HP presented 18 panel discussions and virtual equipment demos focused on the needs of the general commercial printing, photo, flexible packaging, label, folding carton, and direct mail segments.

A highlight was the International Women’s Day breakfast panel discussion moderated by Deborah Corn, where female leaders shared their personal insights and perspectives on the advancement of women in the print industry. Included on the panel were executives from print providers, hardware vendors, paper suppliers, and drupa organizers—providing a hopeful outlook and highlighting the importance of women as the print industry adapts to new opportunities ahead.

Attendees were seeking new ways of doing business through automating their processes and leveraging emerging technologies, focusing on key vertical industries as well as new applications. Keypoint Intelligence works closely with vendors, print service providers, and in-plants to provide business development, workflow automation consultation, and marketing support. This includes closely monitoring the customer communications market for direct marketing and transactional output across multiple channels.

According to Andy Young, Director of Keypoint Intelligence’s Customer Communications Advisory Service, the industry is transforming. “There was a renewed sense of community at Dscoop as participants recognized the critical nature of relationships—not just with their peers but vendor partners, too,” he said. “Investing in technology to address challenges like staffing and to gain better operational insight is important, of course, but companies also have the ability to grow businesses and meet new customer demands for print and digital services in an uncertain environment.”
