Our experts are constantly producing content across a variety of topics. We also know that time is limited and there are plenty of reports flying across everyone’s desk at any time. This series hopes to illuminate a single data point within one of our analyses, forecasts, or research reports that could prove interesting and encourage you to consider reviewing the full deliverable.

Not enough people pay attention to sustainability efforts outside of Earth Day. Once May ends and summer begins, the articles regarding recycling practices, reusing or repairing old materials, or other “green” practices just end without much fanfare. While this isn’t true for everyone, we should be mindful of environmental efforts at all times of the year as the benefits can be seen year-round and not just in the spring.

In our recent US and Western European 2025 Primary Research reports, we explored several top-level topics affecting the on demand and production print markets—including taking inventory of the types of businesses in each market, dealer and in-print practices, as well as the effects of artificial intelligence (AI) on the market. We also devoted several questions towards sustainability practices in each region in hopes of learning more about what is being done to better the environment.

In response to our question “What sustainability-related actions is your company currently undertaking?”, we received a number of various solutions, strategies, and general practices across 61 US respondents and 59 businesses in Western Europe. Because each item is too specific to tabulate into a neat chart, we have collected various examples of direct responses taken from these respondents.

While these responses are direct actions each company has taken on their own, there is no reason why other enterprising companies seeking to engage in better “green” practices couldn’t adopt one or two of these for themselves if they apply to their own situations. There’s no hard-and-fast way to pursue environmentally friendly solutions and there’s no limit to what can be done to ensure that we limit our effects on our planet and try to help it heal from past damage.
