Help to Prevent the Spread of Infections With Epson Print Admin 3’s New Touchless Print Feature

New feature increases safety for those returning to the office after lockdown

We recently posted a report on Epson Print Admin 3 (EPA 3), the company’s entry-level print management solution that’s free if you use only two Epson MFPs and a good value if you have three or more devices. While there are more fully featured print management solutions available, including those compatible with the devices of multiple vendors, EPA 3 provides small organizations with the essential features they need. These features include secure print release so that print jobs are only printed when a user logs in and selects the jobs to print, rules-based printing to prevent waste and control print costs, as well as reports so that print use can be analyzed.

The touchless print feature lets users swipe an ID card to release documents instead of touching the device to authenticate, which Epson says will help to stop the spread of germs in the workplace and the transmission of viruses, COVID-19 or otherwise. The feature should also increase confidence in those nervous about returning to work in person.

The touchless release of print documents is nothing new, and high-end print management solutions with mobile device apps already allow for this behavior, but it’s good to see it implemented in an entry-level solution—it’s an extra bonus of Epson Print Admin 3.
