Held at the Long Beach Convention Center from May 14-17, Dscoop Edge 2025 was a high-energy and successful show for all involved. As industry analysts, we witnessed how this flagship event for many HP industrial print users and partners delivered a comprehensive blend of innovation, education, and networking opportunities.

Interestingly, not only were print service providers (PSPs) and vendors in attendance but print buyers who were invited by their PSPs, too. These buyers came to experience the technology firsthand and participate in business meetings and relationship-building sessions—the latter remains a cornerstone of Dscoop Edge. It’s popular and strategically beneficial, helping PSPs forge strong partnerships that support mutual growth and long-term businesses development.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Dscoop Edge 2025 drew over 1,200 professionals from over 37 countries, reflecting the global community’s eagerness to explore the future of digital print. The conference featured a diverse lineup of educational tracks focused on market growth opportunities, sales and marketing strategies, new advancements in workflow automation, and the increasingly significant role of artificial intelligence (AI). The keynotes included a dynamic roster of speakers like skateboarding legend and entrepreneur Tony Hawk and Daymond John, Founder/CEO of clothing brand Fubu.

HP’s Vision for a New Era of Automation

Haim Levit, Senior Vice President and Division President of HP Industrial Print, opened the conference with a powerful keynote addressing the turbulent global landscape marked by conflict and wars, tariff barriers, climate change, AI, and supply chain concerns. He stressed the transformative role of AI in reshaping the print industry, stating, “Artificial intelligence will revolutionize the world of print as we know it today, opening a new era where presses become autonomous, and workflows are connected, automated, and orchestrated from creation to delivery.”

Levit underscored HP’s dedication to sustainability, highlighting initiatives aimed at reducing carbon footprints and promoting eco-friendly practices within the printing sector. His overarching message was clear: embrace innovation, foster community collaboration, and lead the industry toward a more automated and sustainable future.

Hot Topics in the Keynotes

One particularly compelling keynote was led by economist Taylor St. Germain, whose session attracted a lot of attention due to the sensitivity of the topic these days. He walked attendees through several pressing market challenges such as tariffs, potential rising interest rates, product cost increases, and demographic shifts in the US that will impact the business market in the future. Taylor offered practical guidance on how and when to prepare for these potential disruptions.

Unsurprisingly, AI dominated several discussions. In his keynote, tech expert Dror Globerman took his audience on a journey of not just opportunities, but challenges presented by AI—highlighting key things to watch out for.

Solutions Showcase: A Glimpse into the Future

The Solutions Showcase was a hub of technological advancements, featuring live demonstrations and product unveilings. Among the highlights was HP Nio, a new solution designed to revolutionize production efficiency and scalability on the production floor through specialized AI agents. A main AI agent manages the full conversation flow while others handle specific topics. HP operators can ask questions like “How can I improve productivity or reduce costs?” and receive instant, guided advice. This ensures continuous and fast access to knowledge domains while maintaining a unified, consistent user experience.

It was also positive to see Indigo and PageWide become more integrated under the HP umbrella. While PageWide’s focus centered on its two new products (T4250 HDR for commercial applications and T500M for book applications) recently announced at Hunkeler Innovationdays, Indigo demonstrated its continued push to make electrophotography more productive via LEPx technology (currently only in the V12) and Maestro—an AI-driven software designed to automate image quality troubleshooting and diagnostics, while helping reduce paper jams and minimize downtime.

Finishing and Media

Many finishing vendors showcased technologies which, for the most part, were tailored around HP printing equipment (especially B2 presses) given that most attendees were HP customers.

  • Duplo displayed the DuSense DDC-8000 B2 Raised Spot UV Coater, showcasing advancements in print embellishment technology that are expected to grow on demand.
  • AB Graphic International demonstrated its Digicon Series 3 with the patented Fast Track Die, which emphasizes efficiency in digital finishing solutions and designed to meet growing demand.
  • Tecnau demonstrated its latest advancements in automated post-press solutions, emphasizing seamless integration with HP Indigo digital presses.

On the paper side, Monadnock launched their latest innovation: Stello, a premium fine printing paper designed to elevate digital print applications. The company also showcased its Renovo gift card—a high-performance, sustainable alternative to plastic gift cards. It’s made from 100% post-consumer waste (PCW) and engineered to deliver the same durability, print quality, and functionality as traditional gift cards, but with a significantly lower environmental impact.

Among the software vendors present, Antigro Designer exhibited its online print personalization tools, enabling customers to create customized products with ease. These innovations reflect the industry's commitment to enhancing productivity, customization, and automation in print services.
