HP Reinvent World Partner Forum is a reinvention of their annual global partner conference bringing together 1400+ global partners, including channel partners and system integrators. At the event, HP announced several new products and solution services.
HP announced several new contractual and transactional PageWide printers and MFPs rounding up their 2017 spring product launch portfolio. The A3 launch will be supported by the Smart Device Services Ecosystem (SDS), an “Internet of Things” (IoT) solutions toolset that funnels information via the cloud from devices to service partners aiming to lower service cost and provide more device up-time. Product availability is scheduled for this fall.
HP also announced the latest ScanJet portfolio of single function scanners, comprised of a wide range of products. The device groupings consist of Small Work Team, Document Management (Workgroup), and Document Management (Departmental). The newly announced Flow 8500fn2 Digital Sender boasts a fast 100ppm scan speed; 10,000 page a day duty cycle and HP technology such as WebJetAdmin, FutureSmart, EveryPage and HP scan software. In addition to the 8500 fn2 Digital Sender, HP announces the new Flow N9120 fn2 A3 scanner. At 120ppm scanning speeds, this device is suited towards sophisticated departmental scan and capture environments with needs for more volume and large page/document sizes.
In addition to the new product announcements, HP is introducing new compatible solutions to capitalize on the trends of “mobile,” everything as a service, “smart” devices, and security. According to HP, their portfolio of new solution services will “reinvent the power of print” aimed at addressing customer’s path of work. With this in mind, HP announced several new innovations at Reinvent World Partner Forum 2017.
According to HP, Roam will change the way businesses print by allowing users to print from anywhere to any device – removing the constraints of time, location, and/or being tied to a specific printer. Through this offering, customers can release a print to a personal cloud queue using their smartphone or tablet, which will trigger an alert to available printers in the area. The user will receive a notification of nearby printers from which he or she release the job via mobile app.. Once the print is made, the cost is charged to the individual’s company via an MPS contract. HP Roam is scheduled for a spring 2018 release.
HP’s Solutions Hub is a workflow optimization platform based on an open cloud platform for smart MFPs, a marketplace of connectors to third-party solutions, fleet management tools, and open industry standard development tools. It is intended to provide seamless integration of paper into the digital workplace (and its associated digital processes) so that no extra effort is required to print, scan, and conduct other processes involving paper. Indeed, with a tight level of integration paper will not be viewed as an impediment but rather a value-added workflow component. HP Solutions Hub is designed to minimize the complexity involved with application integration, connection, and scalability through the use of a cloud- and mobile-ready platform.
Scheduled for a spring 2018 launch, HP Smart Device Services 2.0 is the company’s next-generation device management system. According to HP, version 2.0 offers the following improvements: enhanced diagnostics, part-failure prediction, fleet optimization, enhance collection and billing and device health alert. HP believes these new capabilities will help optimize service and part management, improve data collection agent (DCA) reliability, and improve service response times.
Building upon HP’s broad security feature set, HP Connection Inspection is the latest innovation from HP Labs, designed to detect and stop potential security threats tied to HP printers and MFPs. It’s based on a proactive approach that involves monitoring outbound network connections, using patterns to identify normal behavior, and then recognizing and stopping suspicious outbound requests. This technology can also trigger a self-healing reboot without IT intervention. According to HP, Connection Inspection will be available on all FutureSmart products and upgrades for install base devices.
HP’s new technology and solutions aim to “reinvent the power of print” through effortlessly blending paper-based workflows with digital, cloud, and mobile ways of working. With digital only growing in importance, print must prove it can provide ample value in order to not be overtaken entirely by electronic processes. A key way to demonstrate value is removing productivity barriers associated with print through its effortless incorporation with digital tools. This includes security risks that may threaten an organization’s willingness to use networked and/or Internet-connected print technology. At the same time HP is fostering print’s secure union with digital, it is widening the range of print device choices (i.e., laser-based and inkjet products with varying speeds and capabilities) available to organizations, helping ensure that their particular document workflow needs are met. If HP can make good on its overall workflow simplification and optimization proposition, it can potentially help maintain print levels in a fair amount of its office customer base.
