Earlier this year, Xerox announced a concerted effort to reinvent its operating strategy. Generally speaking, the idea is to simplify core products to align with hybrid environments—which should drive efficiency and scalability with centrally-coordinated internal processes that make use of shared capabilities and platforms. Part of this strategy includes the company’s acquisition of ITsavvy, a provider of integrated IT products and associated services. According to Xerox’s President and COO John Bruno, “As part of our Reinvention, we have created a greater organizational focus on our emerging IT services capabilities to diversify our revenue streams in the geographies we serve.”

In a recent conversation with Keypoint Intelligence’s CEO Anthony Sci, President of IT Services for Xerox Munu Gandhi sat down to discuss these changes following ITsavvy’s inclusion and the state of the company’s Reinvention Strategy. The pair go over the intrinsic value that managed IT services (MITS) can bring as well as Xerox’s cultural alignment with its new strategies, the opportunities this restructuring has brought, and the direction of the company’s future.

Keypoint Intelligence Opinion

Xerox’s innovations to reinvent their corporate strategy has brought up a few questions that companies should be addressing when thinking of their own MITS strategy. Who are the key competitors that print partners should be aware of as they expand into IT services? How are you guiding partners toward adopting recurring revenue streams through subscription-based services? How are you helping partners restructure sales and compensation to reflect the longer sales cycles and lifecycle focus of IT services?

While it’s easy to come up with a plan or concept of growth paths, it’s much harder to enact policies that will actually reach these goals. Xerox’s Reinvention Strategy is just one way to best utilize technology…

But it’s not the only way.
