Our experts are constantly producing content across a variety of topics. We also know that time is limited and there are plenty of reports flying across everyone’s desk at any time. This series hopes to illuminate a single data point within one of our analyses, forecasts, or research reports that could prove interesting and encourage you to consider reviewing the full deliverable.
We have a lot to worry about in our professional lives. (We have a lot to worry about in our personal lives, too, but that’s a different blog…) There are trade wars and supply chain issues, market uncertainty, shrinking employee retention, aging industries without fresh blood coming in to maintain them… But rather than catastrophizing ourselves into a coronary, there are plenty of things we can do to prepare and mitigate a lot of the issues that arise.
In our 2025 Global Production Software Outlook Research, we provide copious amounts of data regarding automation; e-commerce and web-to-print solutions; artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics; analytics; as well as more universal aspects of software like technology adoption rates, operational reviews, and general outlook of our respondents’ businesses. Part of this outlook is to explore at what concerns these companies may have.
In our research report, we asked the question “Which of these topics are significant business concerns for your printing operation?” to 181 US and 233 Western European survey respondents that vary in responsibility from Sales Manager or Director to Print Services Manager, Owner/CEO/President, Operations Manager, and General Manager. We then asked them to prioritize these worries into their top three concerns. Most respondents noted that they were focusing on rising costs (22%), followed by sustainability and the environment, cybersecurity, as well as reduced customer print spending (all 14%). When we look at this data compared to last year’s study, we can see that—while concerns about rising costs and customer print spending have shrunk—the others have grown more important.

While there will always be issues to focus on, the takeaway here is that things can change (even in the short span of a year). While we were thinking about hiring qualified staff to replace our aging workforce just last year, these worries have shifted towards cybersecurity and “green” initiatives. Rather than stressing about outside influences that can affect our businesses, it would be better to take stock of what we can control: the main issues the company faces and the way to overcome it.
